SNST featuring Chris Broach of BRAID & The Firebird Band and Sonja Broach, are excited to present their first single “Heart Will Fail You,” taken from the band’s sophomore album It’s Hard To Be Loved By You (slated for Spring 2020). Produced, recorded, and mixed by Chris, “Heart Will Fail You” represents a fresh look for SNST. The track features Sonja sharing main vocals with Chris, and she also wrote the lyrics. Sonja sang backups on SNST’s 2017 debut Turn Out the Lights. This new track could be described as being reminiscent of bands like: The XX, Hot Chip, MØ, Phantogram
Chris Broach is a lifelong musician. He started as a member of the influential indie act Braid as a teenager, and for the past two decades he released under the name The Firebird Band. SNST’s Turn Out the Lights received features and previews at E! News, Billboard, Alternative Press, Brooklyn Vegan, Impose, and more. The band toured from 2016-2018 in the midwest, south (including a few SXSW showcases in 2017 shared w/ Closeness), and east coast, before taking a break for most of 2018 and 2019 to write and record a new record.
Chris Broach wrote the music for the album and this track, “Heart Will Fail You,” during that period, but decided he needed some new perspective. It was then that he asked his wife, Sonja Broach, to sing. Sonja wrote the lyrics for this track, but wanted Chris to sing the chorus - the result is what you hear in “Heart Will Fail You”.
SNST will be continuing to release singles throughout the Fall of 2019 prior to the release of their aforementioned sophomore album. In the meantime, “Heart Will Fail You” is out Friday, September 6th on City at Night / SNST RCRDS, the band’s own imprint label.
